benefiting East Tennessee Children's Hospital

We are glad you are interested in our cause, "For the Kids." Contrary to what it sounds like, DM is not a dance-a-thon where students dance all night long. It is the largest student run philanthropy in the country and involves college students all across the country, whose organizations partner with a Children's Miracle Network hospital in the vicinity.

The philanthropy first began at Penn State University in 1973. Today 77 colleges and universities have a dance marathon event on their campuses. The DM event at UT began in 1995. Throughout the year, student raise money through various fundraisers and DM culminates with a large event during the spring semester. At this annual event, UT Students give a day in of their lives for the life of a child. Throughout its history thousands of students have raised more than $900,000 for children with cancer and other blood-related diseases making Dance Marathon the largest run event that benefits the East Tennessee Children's Hospital. This past year, more than 600 students participated in the February event and raise more than $81,000.
